The Hidden Children of Colonization
by Dominique Regueme, France-Belgium, 2002, 58'
Greek Premier
During the Belgian colonization, in Congo, Rwanda and Burundi, several thousand mixed-race children were victims of a targeted segregation: taken from their families and placed in specialized boarding schools, they were then exiled to Belgium, on the eve of independence. This film tells the story of several of them: Sixty years after the events, these witnesses are now looking back on their past, pursuing the search for their roots and their identity, and still seeking to close the wounds of childhood.
