The Illusion of a Quiet Night

by Olga Chernykh, 2026, Ukraine, 70’ Greek Premiere

Between 27 and 28 July 2025, forty cinematographers and hundreds of other people captured a single summer night in Ukraine. Spanning the northern forests, the front lines, the temporarily occupied territories and the border towns and villages, this film offers a collective portrait of a nation that has endured a large-scale war for four years. Through a polyphonic montage moving from the general to the personal, it depicts everyday life amid fear, exhaustion and brief flashes of joy, where resilience and the hope that this night will one day pass emerge.
