“Combatants for Peace” is a group of former enemy combatants – Israelis and Palestinians – who refuse to give in to violence. Confronted with the devastation and escalating violence of October 7th and the war in Gaza, the core of the movement must confront significant challenges and demonstrate that an alternative path exists. The first question they must ask themselves is whether this is possible.

Director: Stephen Apkon

Stephen Apkon is an award-winning filmmaker and social entrepreneur. He founded the Jacob Burns Film Center, a non-profit film and education centre located in Pleasantville, NY, and was its Executive Director until 2013. He directed and produced “There is Another Way” and “Disturbing the Peace”. He is also the executive producer of “Fantastic Fungi” and “Planetary”, producer of “I’m Carolyn Parker” and “Enlistment Days”, and co-producer of “Presenting Princess Shaw”. He is the author of “The Age of the Image: Redefining Literacy in a World of Screens”, which was published by Farrar, Straus & Giroux and foreworded by Martin Scorsese. He lives in the Hudson Valley with his partner, Marcina; their dog, Osa; and the flora, fauna and fungi with which they share this corner of the planet.
