Behind the Shadows
by Konstantinos Potamianos, 2025, Greece, China, 13’
This film is a cultural bridge between a Greek Karagiozis performer and a Chinese shadow theatre master, an art form believed to have originated in China over 2,000 years ago. The documentary was born out of the director’s personal desire to revisit his childhood memories and trace the origins of Karagiozis, the iconic figure of Greek shadow theatre, which had captivated him from a young age.
