The hypnotic hum of the engine and the vibrations of the bus accompany the filmmaker’s intimate voice as it guides us through a deeply personal inner monologue. The journey leads to Prijedor, his hometown in Bosnia, a place marked by perpetual departures and returns. Yet before reaching the destination, we are invited to reflect on departure itself as a space of transformation, where loss, memory and anticipation coexist. The film is a contemplative cinematic essay on migration, identity and the possibility of renewal.

Director: Mladen Bundalo

Mladen Bundalo (born 1986 in Prijedor) is a multidisciplinary artist, filmmaker and author of Bosnian origin who is currently based in Brussels. His essay films explore themes of belonging and the human condition within the contexts of migration, diaspora and periods of uncertainty and crisis. His work has been screened at over 50 international film and video festivals, including IDFA (Amsterdam), Ji.hlava IDFF (Jihlava), Go Short (Nijmegen), Vidéographies (Liège), the Sarajevo Film Festival and the Punto de Vista IDFF (Pamplona). He has showcased his work at over 70 exhibitions and residencies, at venues such as the Künstlerhaus in Vienna, the MoCA RS in Banja Luka, the National Gallery of Montenegro in Cetinje, Summerhall in Edinburgh, the Galleria d’Arte Moderna Achille Forti in Verona, and the iMAL in Brussels. He is the author of several artist books, including “Tamo i ovdje, ovdje i tamo”, which was published by the Museum of Contemporary Art in Banja Luka. He is also a member of La FAP (the Federation of Plastic Arts), the ARRF (the Association of Francophone Directors), the BARN (the Brussels Artists-Run Network) and the Hectolitre art space in Belgium, as well as the Tač.ka art group in Bosnia. He represented Bosnia and Herzegovina at the Venice Biennale in 2026.
