by Anastasios Stamnas , Greece, 2022, 9’

World Premier

The documentary brings us in contact with the story of Christos Sakellaris, a Greek immigrant at the beginning of the 20th century and with the one and only trip he made back to his homeland. Christos Sakellaris, originally from Perista, Nafpaktia, left in October 1920, at the age of 13, an immigrant in New York. There he went to school and worked in his uncle’s flower shop. In 1933 he bought a 16 mm CineKodak camera and boarded the ship MS Vulcania towards Greece. He filmed people and places with his camera, something that perhaps no one had done before. When he returned to New York, he organized special screenings for Greek immigrants. The documentary gives information about his life in New York, his desire to see his mother and family, the journey, the places he visited, the return journey that never took place.
