Jonathan Leggett was born in London, England, in 1999 and grew up in Switzerland. After training as a mediamatician at the State Archives of Valais and spending several years as a semi-professional freestyle scooter rider, he completed a Bachelor’s degree in Cinema at HEAD–Genève between 2023 and 2026. His films explore themes of masculinity, identity and contemporary youth culture. Interested in alternative production methods, he creates hybrid films that draw on archival and pre-existing footage, as well as other unconventional narrative approaches. His work is also shaped by his strong background in editing. His short film “Better Not Kill the Groove” (2024) received the Pardino d’Argento Swiss Life Award in the Swiss National Competition at the Locarno Film Festival, while his films have been screened at several international festivals.
