"Beyond Borders" travels to York University in Great Britain
27 - 31 October 2019
At the invitation of the University of York (Honored Academic Foundation of the 4th International Documentary Festival "Beyond the Borders") held in Kastellorizo every year in the last week of August and under the auspices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Festival will of Great Britain in the period 27-31 October 2019 where it will screen the award-winning films of this year's event. More specifically, the films will be screened:

First Prize for Best Historical Documentary "Beyond the Borders" 2019
Elderly María Martín lost her mother when she was assassinated by the Franco regime, one of 100,000 Spaniards in mass graves. Now, a lifetime later, María, along with many other Spaniards, are seeking justice for Franco's victims, but Spanish law stands in the way. Directors Almudena Carracedo and Robert Bahar, produced by Pedro Almodóvar, try to give voice to the demands of their fellow citizens.

“Children Below Deck” | Bettina Henkel, Austria2018, 90 90
First Prize for Best Socio-Political Documentary "Beyond the Borders" 2019
The film tells the story of three generations: the (deceased) grandmother, the father and the daughter, who directs. The central theme is the transfer of traumatic experience from generation to generation, and demonstrates the obvious impact that the historical changes of Northeastern Europe have had on the psyche of the protagonists.
