Masterclass: How to write and produce an animated history documentary? On an upcoming film on the real history behind Tolkien’s “The Lord of the Rings”.

J.R.R. Tolkien’s famous epic “The Lord of the Rings” is often being regarded as pure fantasy and fiction. A new documentary coming out in 2024 will show how strongly British writer Tolkien had been inspired for his saga including famous characters such as Gandalf, the Hobbits and Gollum by real-life experiences in the era of the two World Wars. Experienced filmmaker and commissioning editor Jean-Christoph in his masterclass will present a sneak preview on how such an animated history documentary will be produced.
