From Kastellorizo to Your Screen – Beyond Borders and Kathimerini join forces
The Beyond Borders | Kastellorizo International Documentary Festival (24–31 August 2025) dedicates its 10th anniversary edition to Greek documentary cinema, with a special focus on contemporary creativity and production. The festival highlights the journey of this cinematic genre that confronts reality, captures it, comments on it and reshapes it in the most imaginative ways. It acts like a cinematic loom, where past and present are interwoven to craft a narrative canvas stretching into the future.
As part of this milestone celebration, the festival is partnering with Kathimerini, honoring this historic Media Outlet as the Greek Media Partner of Honour of the 2025 edition. Through this collaboration, from 25 to 30 August, selected Greek films from the festival’s Competition Section will be available to watch free of charge via the kathimerini.gr digital platform, bringing the Kastellorizo experience to audiences wherever they are.
The program includes:
- Night Recedes by Timon Koulmasis (Greece–France, 2024, 70’)
- Sculpted Souls by Stavros Psillakis (Greece, 2025, 90’)
- Work / Memories of Work by Hector Arkomane (UK, 2024, 21’, Greek Premiere)
- Fatbardha by Kitty Kentezi (Greece, 2024, 24’)
- We Will Grow by Areti Pagoulatou (UK, 2025, 25’)
- Death of a Format by Marios Lizidis (Cyprus, 2023, 11’, Greek Premiere)
- Between a Rock and a Hard Place by Thanos Liberopoulos (Greece, 2024, 17’, World Premiere)
- Albgreko by Ilir Tsouko (Greece, 2024, 27’)
With this initiative, Beyond Borders expands the reach of Greek documentary cinema beyond the physical borders of Kastellorizo, broadening access and sharing these powerful stories with a wider audience. This marks an important step in the festival’s strategy of international outreach, which for ten years has been bridging cultures and narratives, offering Greek creators a truly global stage.
Screenings will be available at www.kathimerini.gr, inviting audiences to join the 10-year anniversary celebration of Beyond Borders and discover the future of Greek documentary filmmaking from the comfort of their homes.
