Cleopatra Arsenikou-Macramé Knots

For children

Poseidon Square

Macramé is an art of weaving, in which, by using our hands and strings of fabric we make knots and create various kinds of objects. The Arabs used it to decorate their camels and horses in the 13th century, while sailors greatly helped to spread it, making decorative cases for knives, belts and hammocks. Today it is used, with great interest, for the manufacture of jewelry, objects and clothes as it is considered a fashion trend. In this particular workshop, children will have the opportunity to come into contact with this art and make their own creation (e.g., a bracelet) from threads.
