Shadow Theater Player: Alexandros Melissinos

Karagiozis, the beloved hero whose adventures have brought up generations of children over the decades, traveled to Kastellorizo as part of the 9th Beyond Borders | Kastellorizo International Documentary Festival. Young and old fans alike of the figure, which arrived in Greece along with other traditions of the Hellenism of Asia Minor, had the opportunity to enjoy four performances by Karagiozis player Alexandros Melissinos. The Alexandros Melissinos Shadow Troupe offered plenty of laughter to our little friends with the performances “Karagiozis and Odysseus on the island of Cyclops”, “The Labours of Hercules”, “Alexander the Great and the Cursed Serpent” and “Karagiozis at Sea”.
