Under the patronage of H.E. the President of the Hellenic Republic, Ms. Katerina Sakellaropoulou.
Beyond Borders | Kastellorizo International Documentary Festival is preparing for its 9th edition and sets sail from August 25th to September 1st, 2024!
Following the tremendous success of the last edition of the Festival, which received 835 films from 93 countries, the organization invites Greek and foreign documentary filmmakers to submit their films from January 3rd to April 30th, 2024.
The 9th edition of Beyond Borders will host, for the competitive program, 42 films in the following two sections: in the Main Competitive Section, for medium-length (31-60 minutes) and feature-length (61+ minutes) films, and in the μicro Competitive Section for short-length films (up to 30 minutes). It is reminded that in the μicro section, directors with up to 3 films in their portfolio have exclusive submission rights.
The Festival’s aim is to highlight the work of experienced as well as emerging filmmakers and to internationally promote film production. The programming and interest of the Festival focus on documentary films dealing with historical events and personalities, socio-political issues, contemporary or not, the promotion of human rights, and in general, any cross-border nucleus of reflection reflecting the concerns of contemporary cinematic art in any of its forms. The invitation concerns films released within the last three years (2022-2024).
The challenging task of selection will be entrusted to the Festival’s programming teams, composed of acclaimed directors, film critics and theorists, producers, distributors, personnel from film festivals and audiovisual production organizations, film programmers, and others.
